Fifty years ago to this day, Tom Simpson became the first British rider to wear the Yellow Jersey of the race leader.
This year’s hopeful, Bradley Wiggins had to hold patience with still being seven seconds off of Fabian Cancellara, Peter Sagan and Andre Greipel battled it out on the finishing straight into Metz.
The ‘Start Your Day Right’ meditation for today told me that we need to use our time wisely, choosing to give God the best part of our day to spend time with Him.
I can see this. But can I manage to do it?!?!
Most days I seem to barely catch up with myself, let alone God. Some days are just to fast, too much concentrating on the wheel in front, and I forget to list my head up and see what is up in front.
Normally, I find out what is in front when the whistle of the gendarme catches my attention before I crash into the obstacle he was trying to catch my attention to avoid to begin with!
The last timetabled day of school for the academic year is always interesting. I have been teaching some of these kids for the last seven years. Unsurprisingly they have changed a bit. Some more than others.
In the end, some got it, and others didn’t. Some always had it.
What is ‘it’? Good question. I suppose ‘it’ is getting the point of it all. Working it out. Understanding the rules. The boundaries.
The Peloton works in pretty much the same way I think. Riders come and go. Knowledge is passed on. Some get it. Some ignore it.
People of Faith are no different. Some get it quicker than others. Some use more of it than others. Some don’t seem to progress at all.
Which one am I?
Depends on the day!
Mostly, I tend to feel I am about 7 seconds off wearing that Yellow Jumper!
